According to the American Heart Association: -Less than one-third of out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest victims receive bystander CPR -Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival -Unless CPR and defibrillation are provided within minutes of collapse, few attempts at resuscitation are successful Whats your story on how you helped save a life?

I attended a CPR class just a week before I went on vacation to Mexico. While tanning on a beach near the hotel we where staying at I had noticed a bunch of commotion from others nearby. I boy was dragged from the water after a wave apparently overtaken him. Because of my training the week prior I immediately started CPR on this young victim. The nearby hotel staff arrived a couple of minutes later with an AED but they had never been trained on how to use it. I had never used an AED before but because of my recently learned skills on being CPR and AED trained I wanted to do what ever I needed to do to help this young life. Long story short...the boy did not survive. I understand he was in the water far too long. I am so proud though that I was able to attempt to help. I wish others would learn CPR so when their time comes they can help save a life!

Great story. I wish more people took the initiative to learn CPR and how to use an AED. Not every attempt on saving someones life has a happy ending. It is a good feeling to know that you are able to step in and help and give that someone a fighting chance to survive. Koodles to you!
