The course also includes the use of barrier devices. The Healthcare Provider course is intended for those in the health-care field. The fee for this course includes a course manual. Upon successful completion an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider card valid for two years will be issued. The course is approximately 4.5 hours. Students should arrive 15 minutes before class starts. BLS for Healthcare Provider Courses (Full Course) $85.00 Employees of Saint Michael’s Medical Center no charge. Employees must obtain a registration form from the Education and Practice Department. All AHA CPR and First Aid courses are available at your workplace or organization with 6 or more participants. BLS Instructor Course The American Heart Association CPR Instructor course is a two day course. Day one will be completed at home using the AHA CORE DVD provided to you. This program covers information on teaching and will take most of the day to complete. Once complete you will print out a certificate of completion. This certificate must be brought to class with you. Participants must provide a copy of their current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR card the day of the instructor course. The CPR card must indicate you were taught to the 2010 guidelines. Day two will be held at Saint Michael’s Medical Center. Day two will cover information such as course organization, policies and procedures of both the AHA and Saint Michael’s Medical Center CPR Training Department, administration of courses, equipment cleaning, changes in CPR and why the occur, skills testing a written test and more. To complete the instructor course students must be evaluated teaching their first course at Saint Michael’s Medical Center. Course fee includes course instructor manuals.
