| Owner http://www.certifiedrescuecourses.com Having worked in the ER for the past 15 years it is hard to accept the shocking and sad fact that CPR is rarely being initiated before the arrival of an ambulance. While many people are being trained in this life saving skill, far too many more are not. Until we can better educate the public about the importance of CPR, how easy it is to learn and address the misconceptions people have about CPR I am afraid things will not change. When someone’s heart stops beating it is the first 4-6 minutes that are the most critical. This is when CPR must be started. Unfortunately, the chances of an ambulance arriving on scene to begin CPR within those first crucial minutes are not very likely. As hard as those in the medical field try to restart a person’s heart, the simple fact is if a person did not receive CPR from bystanders prior to the arrival of an ambulance the chances are very low that it will be restarted. The survival rate is a dismal 4%. It is up to each and everyone of us to initiate what is known as the Chain of Survival by calling 911 and starting CPR immediately to begin the simple steps to save a life. There are several links in the Chain of Survival and first responders perform the most important links. When it comes to providing CPR no one is more important than you are. Nothing has been proven more effective in saving a life than calling 911 immediately, starting CPR and early defibrillation (shocking the heart with an AED). There is no medication, procedure or intervention that has been proven more effective in saving a life than the initiation early CPR. It is these experiences and my background in healthcare that I bring to our courses. We have made it our mission at Certified Rescue Courses to train as many people as possible how to save lives. To accomplish this we approach our classes very differently than most other courses. We know that the thought of taking or having to perform CPR can cause stress and anxiety. This is the last thing we want. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed when you take the course and confident with yourself and your skills when the class is completed. If you are interested in learning more about Certified Rescue Courses or wish to schedule your next class please contact us at (508) 992-0930 or via email at the link Contact Us on our home page. Your complete satisfaction is what is most important to us and we strive to exceed all of your expectations. Sincerely, Christopher Crowther, RN, BSN |
